Fifty5Blue commits to #WorkingWithCancer pledge

At Fifty5Blue, we recognise that a cancer diagnosis can be life‑changing for individuals and their families and, as such, we are delighted to confirm that we have become signatories to the #WorkingWithCancer pledge.

The Working with Cancer pledge brings together organisations worldwide to remove the stigma surrounding cancer in the workplace and to foster an environment where people affected by cancer feel supported by their work, not disadvantaged by it. Learn more about the global movement here

Rachel Clarke, Fifty5Blue’s Chief Legal & People Officer, said “We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive working environment where employees affected by cancer are treated with dignity, compassion and fairness. This commitment reflects our business principles and our belief in creating an environment where everyone feels included, respected and able to flourish.”

As part of this commitment, Fifty5Blue pledges to:

  1. Create a supportive and open culture where employees feel able to talk about a cancer diagnosis without fear of stigma, discrimination or negative consequences.
  2. Provide reasonable adjustments and accommodations to support employees affected by cancer, recognising that individual needs may change over time.
  3. Ensure fair and unbiased treatment, so decisions relating to recruitment, performance management, reward, and progression are never influenced by health conditions, disability, or other personal characteristics.
  4. Actively remove bias from our people processes and take steps to ensure that policies and practices operate fairly and consistently.
  5. Promote a respectful and inclusive working environment that values diversity, provides equal opportunity, and supports the wellbeing of our people at all levels.

We understand there is no one‑size‑fits‑all experience of cancer. In line with our commitment to respect, integrity, and inclusion, we will listen, respond with empathy and flexibility and support our employees in a way that recognises their individual circumstances.

This pledge is supported by Fifty5Blue’s Business Principles and Inclusion and Diversity Policy, which set out our commitment to respect, inclusion, fair treatment and a workplace where everyone feels able to speak up and be supported.
